Juggling

I think being successful in life is to become a juggler. I've been consumed with the construction projects here on the farm for a little over a month. Planning, fetching materials, sketching, scheduling, and helping our carpenter.
When I get knee deep in one effort, it's easy to lose focus in the other areas in my life -- the exercise, practice, writing, and performing. Sometimes we have to burn the midnight oil to get it all in.
I sometimes envy people who are single minded and work toward one goal. Perhaps that's what makes some folks more successful than others, but for me, there are so many things that interest and fascinate me. I think I'd rather sacrifice some level of success, for variety.
Any way, that's where I am right now -- juggling. We're getting up early to walk, I'm measuring, sawing, nailing, and caulking during the day -- then at night, I'm writing, practicing, and working on other stuff that has to be done.
I may drop a ball every now and then, but that's a small price to pay for doing what you love.

  1. Jugglers of the world - unite!

Some of us are more like tap dancers than ballet dancers. We may not be able to stay "en pointe" - but we sure can keep a beat to the music of life!

    Nice post - Marsha

  2. I'm one of those unable to focus solely on one thing - which maybe explains why I am where I am now! LOL!! I also know I'm easily distracted too! I think that's why I like blogging - it's the variety of the posts!

Have a great day juggling! I hope you get to drop a ball or two too! Take care

I've always been a juggler so when I get time to devote to one thing for a few hours--it's heaven!

  4. In other words...you are a busy guy!
I'm juggling right now too...but in find I have a hard to e with flexibility. I have a certain amount of things that HAVE to get done and when something happens...a crisis of sort that I have been going through with a family member, you need to make time for many other things to fit in. It becomes more difficult to "juggle". So I am always praying for better flexibility. It's good to be active though! :-)
    Good luck!

  5. Oh happy day, you've finally showed up on my reader!
I have found that the older I get, the more projects I seem to have going at one time. It can get overwhelming to me at times. My husband always calms me by telling me to pick one project and finish it. Then move to the next.
Well it works for awhile and then I get overwhelmed again! But all we can do is keep trying, right?
    Love Di ♥

  7. I am so with you on the willingness to sacrifice some success for the variety. I like lots of things, and if I have to focus too long on any one of them I get bored with it.

Good post. Glad you are still writing even though you are busy with other stuff.
