The Taxman Comith

I got caught up on all my writing assignments last week, and I knocked my column out for Sunday in record time.
I had no choice but to do the next high priority item on my list -- INCOME TAXES.
To be honest, I'd rather pass a kidney stone as to work on my taxes but I put my big boy boxers on and got to it.
I'm fairly organized throughout the year and my iPhone has helped because I have a business and milage expense tracker application that I've update religiously.
Here's the thing -- there are three kinds of people in this world. Those who are good with numbers, and those who aren't.
Anyhow, I knocked a dent in the chore and I should be finished by tomorrow afternoon. That will be a ToDo item I can't wait to strike off the list.
I have a theory -- when you spend too much time crunching numbers, you do that at the expense of your creative juices.
I'm thankful I decided against becoming an accountant.

  1. I haven't done my taxes yet and it's not because I don't have time. I'm almost positive I owe some money, and don't want to know. I'm going to avoid knowing as long as possible. By the way, The Hurricane is a mathematician, but she draws and paints beautifully. Mathematics at the highest levels is quite abstract and beautiful and offers opportunities for creativity. The Hurricane learned during her freshman year in high school that she should seek the most elegant way to solve a problem. Now when I think of math, I think of elegance. But I still don't want to do my freaking taxes. Maybe if I drink a shot after every entry I make . . .

    Love,
    Janie

I took my taxes to the tax man today! Haven't done taxes in years...but I've known a lot of fantastic men who loved "crunching" those numbers!

  4. Well, shucks. My taxes are done and gone. I spent my time at a gourmet cookies shoppe today.

See what the rewards are for the early bird? A whole lot better than some dumb worm!

  5. It is interesting how we all have different talents. Math is not one of my talents either. It is good to get the taxes over and done with.

  9. Heck, we hire it done...and buy the insurance against any errors. Don't want the government turning up on our doorstep for an audit. It would be too much work to drag out all the papers if they came by.
