Your Favorite Song

Someone asked me recently what was my favorite song. That's a toughie. To sift through all the music I've listened to and loved and somehow pull one out of that pile would be difficult.
So maybe I'll try to do one per decade (even this approach will fall painfully short).
1950s
Jailhouse Rock (recorded by Elvis)
1960s
All Along the Watchtower (written by Bob Dylan, but I like Jimi Hendrix's version)
1970s
Let it Be (The Beatles)
1980s
Faithfully (Journey)
1990s
Time of Your Life (Greenday)
2000
You're Beautiful (James Blunt)

When I looked at this list, I've already seen a dozen songs that could easily have been on the list, but it's time to go to bed.

What's your favorite song?

  1. Like you Rick I have far too many...I don't even think I could write one per decade;-)

  2. That would certainly be a difficult choice to make. Might put my brain on overload if I gave it a try!

  3. I don't know if I could pick out just one. We are music fanatics here, which is why the youngest is in LA in the music industry. A favorite song changes daily for me.

  4. Over all it's Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Judy Garland's version. I sang that song as a lullaby to both of my girls.

  5. My favourite song changes with my moods, times and the occasion. If you ask me what kind of music I like, now, that's different. I like just about any kind of music from classic to rock from lullaby to pop. I don't like heavy metal, rap, repetitive lyrics or offensive words.

One of my all time favourite song would be The Ave Maria by Schubert. I love singing it.
I sang it at weddings and funerals by special requests.

  6. One song??!!! No way!! I'm not sure it is possible to have just one favorite song. Even if I narrowed it down to one favorite song for different topics, i.e., love song, song about faith, pop, whatever, I would have a hard time picking one. I think you did a great job narrowing it down to the decade.

  7. It's impossible to mention one favorite song, but I love The Beatles, and one song that comes to my mind is "When I'm sixty-four".
