Is it wrong

This morning I slipped out of bed before Jilda, closing the bedroom door behind me.
I left the overhead lights off, choosing instead to sit by the gentle light cast off by the Christmas tree.
I sat on the sofa absorbing the holiday ambiance while the coffee brewed. We chose white lights this year. We have colored lights, twinkle lights and pearl bulbs, but this seemed like a white-light year.
It's amazing how quiet it is here at that time of morning. Every now and then, a neighbor who lives further down our dead-end road, and still works for a living, drove by, but for the most part, it was peaceful.
I love that time of morning....before the rest of the world wakes up. It's almost as if I have the day to myself. I can do with it what I choose. I'm not a selfish person by nature, except during this time of day. The precious minutes before your mind becomes cluttered with the minutia of life.
This morning, I claimed these few moments as mine and only mine.
Is it wrong?

  2. oh no definitely not wrong. These times feed the Soul. I too love the early morning, leaving The Scot sleeping. This time is mine and I don't need to worry. Love your photo.

  4. Oh it is not wrong, I get up at 4 or 4:30 am, just so I can have quiet time for me before I start rushing around... it gets my day started off great. I know I could use the sleep but that peace I get is needed, especially these days :) Enjoy those moments when you can :)

  5. Oh no, it is very right. I go for early morning walks alone every morning. It's my time and I love every minute of it. : )
We have blue and red lights on our tree this year.

  6. It's great that you appreciate your peaceful surroundings in the morning. It would be wonderful if you could start each day this way, or set aside a special moment that is truly your own.

  7. Each of us need to find those moments for our self - mine are in the early morning, too. There's something very special about those moments in the quiet, beside a sparkling tree..........

  10. Good Heavens, of course not.
Actually, I never think that time to think, time to become wholly oneself, is selfish. If we just fritter ourselves away we lose sight of everything that is important.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I’ll be back to study your thoughts again.

  12. Wrong? Are you kidding?? I wonder how many of the world's ills could be cured if everyone had the opportunity for quiet reflection and downtime instead of the ceaseless chatter of social media and loose connections?!?! I'm thinking it'd be wrong NOT to take it!!

  14. First time commenting on your blog; I do not think it is wrong to like that quiet time first thing in the morning! I am the same way and in fact get up an hour earlier than others living here just to "claim" that time as mine.

  15. It's not wrong and as I wrote in my recent blog, not enough people stop and pay attention to the little things. This one clearly had your name on it.
