Walking hazards

I'm not sure what it is about this time of year that impels spiders to  build thready traps across our walking path, but it does.

You walk the same path daily without issue, then one day without warning, you're gingerly walking with your mind in Massachusetts, and the next thing you know your face is full of webs with spiders as big as chihuahuas and you're speaking in tongues.

That happened today.  So from now until winter, I'll be walking with my spider stick that I use to clear the path as I walk.

It's one of the hazards of walking.

  1. A spider stick is a brilliant idea, although it will soon be cool enough here that spiders will be snowed out for the season.

  2. I am not a fan of spiders. Walking through a spider web is easily one of the most terrifying things on earth!

  3. I know what you mean Rick. Lately when I go through the hedge in the back yard to my short cut to the barn, I run into spider webs in my face. I just brush them off and I continue. After a while they don't bother me. We have huge orb spider in the barn and I have to take down lots of big strong webs with a worn down broom. It has a little curl on the wend and i call it my witch broom. lol...

  5. On Tuesday as we were walking out of the doctor's office we walked into this web that we could not see but it was all over our faces. Yukky. I was afraid that it would go in my eyes. Luckily it did not.
I can certainly relate to your post today.

  6. Hate when that happens...guess that's nature's way of letting us know we share this space on earth!

  7. My son the entomologist has pointed out the types of spiders on our walks long ago. They are superb annoying bug catchers, so when/if I see them, I walk around. They are amazing in their multi-tasking.
That is not to say I enjoy a face of webbing, no.

  9. For some reason, such a small light weight barrier, can cause major mental anguish. I seldom think of the spider attaching itself to me, but I know folks that panic big time.

Hiking in the AM, Sherry insists it is me up front. LOL
