Envisioning vision boards

Jilda and I started working on our vision boards for the coming year. Last year we were in a funk at the end of the year and wound up not doing our boards. And it seems like both of us spent a lot of time spinning our wheels. I'm not sure if no boards and spinning wheels are related, but I think they are.

One article in Psychology Today says that vision boards are a waste of time, but I feel like any time you can begin to visualize the things you want is time well spent.  I don't care what the "professionals" say.

Below is a Wordify picture of me with some of the power words I'm thinking about using this year. More to follow.

  1. I think vision boards are a good way to go when you know they work for you and Jilda. I am one who says, if it works then go for it and who cares what the so called experts say. I like your power words and might use some myself

  2. We do live under a rock, I have never heard of a vision board as far as I can remember. BUT any idea or advice that helps one accomplish their plans and dreams are not a waste of time. Imma look into something called 'vision board'.

  3. Your Wordify picture is very clever. Some interesting word choices too.
I am a muddler along rather than a planner...

  5. Didn't see Thankful, Faith, Love, seems a bit selfish.

    1. Love Is on there. Thankful is a little weak for how I feel so I use Gratitude instead but you can use any words you choose when you do yours.
I never thought of myself as selfish but maybe you’re right.

    2. I didn't see love, my apologies, but I still rest my case.

    3. I love reading your posts every day, and the kiddos that you make sure understand the wonderful details of life, and your place, and being able to visit your parents at the cemetery, These are all things to be thankful for.... perhaps you might ponder on being thankful. BTW... I spent a couple days in the Bell Labs where I had to sign a confidentially agreement in Plano... All parts of my being thankful... Thank you Rick for bringing life's small moments into something being thankful for.

  6. I think to vision a thing is to see it more clearly so your vision board sounds like a great way to plan for the New Year. I've never done one, but have a few goals to meet in 2018. I like that wordify picture...never though of it as selfish though.

  7. Wow, a very clever idea to use a wordified picture of you for your Vision Board. I would be interested in knowing what apt you used to do this.

I just usually make lists of long, medium and short term of things I want to accomplish and just cross them as I get some of those projects done. One of my goal is to retire from the dairy farm but it all depends on how well we can sell our cattle and when.

    Happy New Year. 🥂 🎉 🎈🎈

  10. I used an app called Wordify. You find a picture you want to use. The simpler the better on the pic, then choose the words you want to use. You can put your own list in,a poem, or Bible verse, song lyric, etc. then hit the play button. I had to hit the play button several times to get it to look like how I wanted it to look.Google Wordify app and you’ll see it.

  13. I say if it works, go for it, regardless of what the "professionals" say if it works for you then it's a good thing.

The Wordify picture is very cool.

  14. An inspiring list of words. I was certain I had read last year that you and Jilda were busy making your vision boards. Time has gotten away from me.

  19. I keep promising myself that I'm going to do one and I will this year!! I love the pic with the words..very cool! All those words are keepers and in response to the one who thought you selfish I think they should go back and read your blog from this year...so many wonderful things you and Jilda do with family and friends..so caring and loving. Even what you both do for work cannot be achieved without giving of yourself. I wish you all the best in 2018!!
