Monet Clouds

I didn't sleep well last night. I'm not sure why that happens sometimes. My mind races. Unimportant topics which I have absolutely no control over, play in slow motion over and over. It's annoying

I try deep breathing techniques. I do counting breaths. I listen to soothing music with my tiny headphones but none of them seem to work when it gets like this.

Eventually, my mind gets tired and I drift off into a fitful sleep.

This morning when I woke up, I felt as if I had a hangover. Ugg.

Walking into the kitchen I punched the brew button on the coffeemaker and stepped over to the window and have a look at the new day.

The color of the clouds looked almost like grape cotton candy. Stepping to the back porch, the wind out of the west felt like an April wind. The scene looked like a Monet.

Pulling the phone from my pocket, I snapped a picture. It didn't capture the depth of the beauty before my eyes, but it gives you an idea.

Happy Chinese New Year.

  1. Try eating a bananna; it helps.
I usually sleep six hours. The recommended is 7-8 hours if one wishes to function well and especially keep normal weight (sleep does wonders for our metabolism). So, being retired, I pay attention to the nr. of hours I sleep and try to find a way to add an hour or two to those six hours.

  2. This picture is so beautiful but a sky like tha in the morning means sailers take warning. I didn’t have a great sleep either but it is good to keep trying and have a nap in the afternoon:)

  3. Ahhhh, just wait, next year when you get OLD you can just get a good book and do like my girl, sleep read.

It is a miserable those uninvited thoughts. My problem is mentally trying to fix someone else's problem, usually family. It doesn't happen as much anymore.
Best to you in your search for a good night's sleep!

  4. There's nothing more annoying than those thoughts that invade your head and refuse to go away. When that happens to me I play a "movie" in my head of my own invention. Sometimes it works, sometimes not, but it's better than wondering if I did put away the soup, or pay that bill, or return that book? Lol.

The photo is amazing, what a lovely sky!

  5. gung hay fat choy

  6. Gorgeous shot! Love the purple hues with patches of green.
Try a warm drink before bed or get take some melatonin.

  7. Uggg... I hate when my mind refuses to shut off. And to think, I used to make fun of my mom for the same thing. Karma sure bites.

  8. Making gig-saw puzzles keeps my mind off my problem as I try to place pieces ... and I enjoy the challenge once in a while. Being Catholic, I recite the rosary, focusing on the different mysteries in Jesus's life... and it really brings me to a place of peace and I soon fall asleep as soon as I hit the bed. It just works for me... I'm not sure why??? It could be I'm just exhausted. Maybe I'm a muffler...

I wish you a good night sleep. Everything will be all right. I should be the one to worry because I'm a dog and this year is the year of the dog...

    Hugs, Julia
