50 Years

Tonight our senior class from high school celebrated a 50-year reunion. There was a great crowd. Sometimes when classes have these reunions they choose not to come for one reason or another.
It was good seeing the "OLD" classmates.

At reunions these days, people brag about the grandkids. That's OK with me. If we had grandkids, I'd be proud of them too.

But a lot of the conversations turned to health problems and struggles with elderly parents. I feel for those folks. Both Jilda and I struggled with our folks too.  I would do it again.

Like me, most of my old classmates have retired, but some of them went back to work doing things they find rewarding.

The one thing I've learned is that you have to keep moving. If you don't your joints and pipes rust.

I'll be looking forward to our 75 class reunion.

  1. I was unable to attend my 50th reunion. Graduation seems so long ago.

  2. We had our 50 last year. It was a lot of fun. Of course I was sure glad we had name tags so I knew who people were.

  3. I have never attended any of my reunions. I didn't enjoy my school days and have no wish to revisit them.

  4. Have fun at your 50th high school reunion. They are lots of fun. Everyone age, some better than other and hopefully wiser than when they were in high school.

  5. You do have to keep moving forward. I agree, if you don't use it you lose it.

  6. Dear Rick, this June is the 60th class reunion of my college class. I won't be able to attend, but oh the memories that come back when I remember those days so long ago. Just think how many people have touched your life in all these years; and how many people whose lives you've touched. That's Oneness! Peace.

  8. I went to my 15th reunion back a million years ago! Not sure if I'll go to the 50th in a few years but Jack always goes to his since it's right here in Ashland. I now know many of his classmates that have stayed here for careers and such and do enjoy them. It's sad to say that health problems are a concern and being the caregiver to a parent is really challenging. My Mom always used to say that she didn't want to stop moving because then "they" will get you...I think "they" are stiff joints, aches and pains, and any other old age ailment. She'll be 92 in a few weeks and has done pretty good in that department! You do great too...author, musician, newspaper writer, photographer, wonderful Uncle to the lucky nieces and nephews! Put your lovely wife in and what a dynamic duo! Have a good weekend!
