Buzz Cut

I took my collie Caillou to the groomer back in May to get his summer cut. I had no idea when I took him in exactly what a summer cut meant. When I picked him up, it looked as if he'd gotten drafted and had gotten a basic training buzz cut. He was pitiful.

The other dogs didn't recognize him. Without his hair, he looks a lot smaller. I think the other dogs made jokes at his expense.

The upside of the episode is that Caillou did a lot better through the oppressive heat this summer. But still, I will never get him cut that short again.

His coat is finally coming back and he looks more like himself, but he still has a ways to go.

When I was outside on the bench, I snapped a picture of him to show his progress.

He should be back to his old self by Christmas.

  1. He does look better. Could you get him trimmed to that level next summer?

  2. Giving a collie a poodle cut? That is just wrong. Probably less trouble with burrs and stuff though.

  3. WOW, when I read the title I thought, "Not again besides this is fall". Yeah I think every one here will remember. I smiled at the 'joke line', but I think the others were thinking, "AM I NEXT?". LOL

  4. He is such a beautiful dog and I'm thinking with cooler weather coming your way he'll appreciate a heavy coat.

  5. I'm sure it was traumatic for Caillou to have been buzzed like that. He had such a beautiful coat. I'm glad to see it's almost all grown back. I bet he will remember his last hair cut when it comes time to return for a less traumatic cut next time.

  7. Caillou will feel several pounds lighter, but still...Summer can feel brutal for a dog with such a lovely coat. Awfully pretty.
