Thinking Outside the Net

Me and my guide at Helen, Georgia
I've made a decision. On January 1, 2013 I'm going fishing. It been way too long since I've been, and for the life of me I don't know why.
I mean, what could be more important that fishing?  You get exercise, you're being mindful of the environment, you're helping the economy when you stop at the fly shop and load up on fishing stuff, you're enhancing your creativity, and you're fortifying your mental health. This is all important stuff here.
I think if more people spent time fly fishing, there would be world peace. I know there would be true happiness.
I'm actually thinking about running for congress. Your help in brainstorming is welcomed. Possible slogans so far are: "Fish More, Fight Less", or maybe "A Trout On Every Table".  Maybe you could come up with a better slogan, but it must be fly fishing related.
My other thoughts for the new year include, having lunch with a group of our dear friends at least once a month. I plan on hiring an unemployed thug to look me up and beat the crap out of me if I don't stick to my intention.
Playing music at coffee shops, festivals, or other fun venues both here and abroad at least monthly.
I'm trying to think of innovative ways to approach the new year. I'd love to hear what you plan for 2013. Let's think outside the net here.

  3. Well Rick, I think that a fish on the fly is worth two in the net, don't you?

It seems that there's nothing more relaxing than fly fishing. Go for it and have fun. It sounds like a great idea if you have some open water. Here the river is frozen.

My new year resolution is getting rid of some clutter.

    Good luck with your projects.

  4. January 1st we have the Polar run where every one runs into the ocean for a cold dip. brrrrr. lol

I loved fishing till I caught my Mom by the ear then I began feeling sorry for the fish.lol
Now I fish in my fish tank with a net.lol I think about raising fish to put into lakes or into a back yard pool. I love trout more than salmon. I also like to eat what I catch but today it's only for sport because the lakes are all polluted. Sucks.
Cleaning fish tanks is also good to use on plants. Flowers grow so well on fish droppings.
Fly fishing is a soothing way to spend a day.
I think you have a good idea .
    Go for it.!

  5. Outside the box for me was finally getting my nerve up enough to write a post and hit publish without first writing 2 drafts and my stomach in knots that some totally undesirable pic from my computer file would end up there and I would not be able to delete it. So I need a challenge like yours. We'll see.

  6. Jack would give this idea 2 thumbs up! He also would be jealous that anyone can go fishing this time of year because around here you'd need a good saw to get through the ice..so enjoy and Happy New Year!
