Wish you were here

Did you ever get a postcard from an exotic place with the taunting message from a good friend that said? "Wish you were here."

At first glance one might think the friend really wished you were there with them sharing beach champaign and enjoying sunsets that were so rare and beautiful they'd make you weep?

But what they're really saying, if you could read the unwritten text, would be, Na, Na Na Na Na (Sung in a childish sing/songy voice.) I'm here at this incredible place and you're marooned in Empire, Alabama.

Or at least that's what I imagine they are saying as I sit marooned in Empire, Alabama.

Soon we'll be sitting on a beach watching the sun set in the west. I plan to take pictures and send them to all my friends with a note saying, "Wish you were here."

  4. Stop taunting me Rick. It's -20 °C. here in my reality world. It will be -5 on Sunday and -7 on Monday so I guess I'll be fine by then.

All jealousy set aside. Enjoy your time on the beach...

  5. lol Well sometimes you do wish someone was there to enjoy it with you.
    I don't know. I wouldn't say it if I didnt mean it.
    I'd just say:
Man! Is it great here! You need to find time and come see for yourself.
But then they know the na na na part. just by the post card they got.lol

  6. I had a friend who was much more straight-forward! She would send post cards from beautiful places and just write, in large letters, SUFFER! ;)

  10. Since the middle of the 20th century I have always returned to this state where I could watch the Pacific sunset. There's nothing to compare with seeing the day run out of land, hearing it roar off on its journey of light. The excitement never diminishes, have fun!
