The party's over

We parked our vehicles in the field this afternoon to make room for all the cars we knew would be in our driveway at 3 p.m.

At one point we had around 25 people. That doesn't sound like much, but did I mention we live in a cottage. I think my blog buddy Jack's RV has more floor space that we do but we managed. My nephew Haven is a grillmaster and he smoked enough Boston Butt to feed a small country. Everyone else pitched in and at party time our table and cupboards overflowed with food, deserts, and fixin's.

Tonight when the dishes were in the dishwasher, all the pots had been scrubbed and placed in the cabinet, Jilda looked at me and said, "Bedtime will come early tonight." I couldn't agree more.

I did want to leave you with another picture I came across during our decluttering work. It's of Jilda and me. This was taken at Jilda's high school prom in 1969.

  3. Jilda gave more details on the party, but not the early bedtime comment.

Photo--we were much younger then. Kids, really. But we knew so much.

  4. Glad you had a wonderful time and the food sounds good. So few can have a love that lasts this long...that is very nice.

  6. Hey dude, that is one pretty chick, and wow, you had hair and all that stuff. ;-),
Glad you all had a great time, sounds like a fun time. I prefer tight places. We are here with a nice home next door and this is "THE PLACE". It is good to have a crowd over for a special occasion. Also good to have an early bed time, AT TIMES!

  8. Party in a small space sound great to me. I love small spaces always have. Remember, no matter how small the space in on the inside of the cottage, we all have the same space outside. Sounded like a great party hate I couldn't make it. haha.

  9. Cute picture. We must be close in age since my prom picture with Mrs, Chatterbox is also dated 1969.

  10. Nothing better than a gathering of family and friends and tons of food and fun to go with it. Except maybe that prom pic! Love it! Jilda's corsage is almost bigger than her! You look pretty dapper too!

  11. I had left a comment here yesterday but it evaporated into cyber space...
I'm glad the celebration went well. Family gatherings are the best. I echo Fishducky. Where did all the hair go Rick, lol. You should have saved some for later, Jilda saved all hers... You both look so young and innocent.
