Best Camera in the World

It's raining again. The yard is full of mushrooms. The variety has expanded. We started out with white ones with orbs that looked like large. But once grown, they have caps as big as beach umbrellas. Next came mushrooms the color of snuff but look like the ones you buy in the supermarket.

Today after Jilda and I got home, the rain moved off to the east. We decided to take the dogs out for a long-anticipated run. Halfway down the garden path, I looked down to see tiny mushrooms with caps the color of a summer sunset. I leaned down and snapped a picture with my phone.

I'm often asked what kind of camera I own. I have a high-end Canon digital camera, but it languishes on the shelf in my office. Most of the pictures I take are with my iPhone. I've heard it said that the best camera in the world is the one you have with you when you need it. I agree with that.

  1. I still use my digital Canon camera. It's big and heavy to carry but I'm OK with it since I don't have an iphone or smart phone.

That's quite the interesting mushroom. I wonder if someone can identify it.

  3. Interesting mushroom. I'm not much on pictures, seem like sometimes you miss seeing stuff because you are so busy taking pictures of it.

  4. I haven't seen a mushroom colored like that, the cameras on the cell phones are very good now.

  5. I met a guy on the AT hiking to only take pictures of mushrooms. he had walked about 1500 miles. He was pointing to one about like the picture but it was about 8" across, the one he pointed out, he called a watermelon mushroom. I wasn't sure if he was saying that was the name of it or what it looked like.

    Still good color~

  7. That's a mushroom?? Wow I thought it was a flower and a very pretty one but this means it is probably quite poisonous

  12. I have a little cannon digital camera but I think my iphone captures better photos.
I have been seeing lots of mishrooms on my walks. I saw some pink ones a couple days ago but didnt have my camera on me. They were gone the next day.
    Pretty flowering mushroom you captured!

  13. Dear Rick, I never have a camera with me because I don't carry my cell phone--seldom use it and my camera that uses film is kept in a drawer that's seldom opened. I do so enjoy your photographs and those of other bloggers. Peace.

  16. Our Panasonic is in linen closet, slightly covered with dust. My phone, on the other hand, is in constant use.

    What a mushroom!!

  17. Wonderful picture. My training came from taking photos for my high school yearbooks and youth fashions for the Chronicle. Now Norma is the photographer with her phone and iPad. My skills are obsolete. Watercolors are safe from technology, so I do that now.
