Parade

My assignment today was an easy one – take pictures of the local high school homecoming parade. I smiled when I drew this assignment.

I've been taking pictures of the homecoming parade for over 15 years. I maintain the school's alumni website so I take them each year to put on that page.

It's often warm enough to swim on homecoming parade day. In fact, I've gotten sunburned in the past working the parade.

This year it was rainy and cold. Most of the kids were bundled up.  Even with the cooler weather, the kids were excited.

The people on the floats toss candy out to the kids on the parade route. The atmosphere is festive.

My bones are weary tonight.

A parade kid. His dad was pulling a trailer load of candy-tossing junior high cheerleaders.

  2. Home town parades are special. Crows gather to see someone they know and yell to them. We sponsored a float one year and the Grand kids loved it. Like many things that fell thru the cracks but they still remember. I still have pictures of my sister in the last hometown parade here. Special...... Good entry

  4. Parades are a lot of fun! But the feeling of being bone tired, not so much. I think the cold and rain contribute a lot to that for sure. Hope you got a good rest and are ready for another day !

  5. I used to bring the kids to the Santa Claus Parade years ago but I never go to parades now. I just don't like to be in a crowd anymore.

15 years is a good record. Rest your poor bones. It's still raining here too. I think heaven is crying because of all the nasties that is going on in our messed up world.
