I interviewed an exchange student from Italy this week. This afternoon, I took a few pictures of her with her host sister. The sister lives a few houses away.
This young lady is delightful. She speaks four languages and speaks English as good as most of the folks I know.
I also had an opportunity to interview a young lady that was launching a new design business. She was excited, afraid, and confident at the same time. I think she'll do well because it's work that she loves.
Tomorrow, I'm on call at the paper. There's no telling what's on the board. I never know from one time to the other what I'll be covering.
On the walk this afternoon, Jilda pointed out that the red tips are blooming I snapped a picture.
Soon the weather will break which will widen the photo choices. Right now, I have to take what I can get.

I am proud of anyone who speaks another language, but four that is amazing, I love it. My plans were to have one of the kids in our area teach me some Spanish for pay, half hour stints, but I have never got around to it. I had one year of French before I quit school, now I wonder why they taught French. LOL

Your red tips are lovely. This time of year up here is filled with a ton of brown or white snow! I'd take red any time. I've always wished my Mom had taught us kids Greek but since Dad wasn't Greek she spoke only English at home. I think it's great to have a second language. I was glad my son learned Mandarin Chinese when he lived in Taiwan for 2 years. I don't like being on call but I'm assuming your call might be more pleasant than mine. Hope you have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteA foreign language is a great asset, has always been. Most parents are aware of that and invest in childrens' acquiring a new language. It's a shame when parents speak an additional language and, for some reason, don't pass it on to their offspring. Later on, they have regrets.
ReplyDeleteHaving a second language is important in the province of New Brunswick where I live because it's the only official bilingual province in Canada. I speak French as a first language and English as a second language. My late daughter Nicole spoke 5 languages fluently and she understood a few other languages.
