Slim pickin's tonight

I spent most of the day behind the wheel. When I glanced into the rearview mirror this evening, my eyes looked like road maps. As I stepped out of the truck in the driveway, my knees squeaked.

This evening as I looked for a picture to use tonight, I came across this picture of a horse and buggy that I took a few weeks ago.

I wondered what it would be like to ride across the U.S. in one of these?

  1. Slow is what it would be. Which in some ways has a LOT of charm.

  2. YEAH, every time I see a horse and wagon I think folks crossed the USA walking beside or driving a wagon. A few miles in one of those I probably wouldn't fuss about the conditions of some road's.
    Rest and grease 'em knees!

  4. I think the horse would have to be traded every once in a while. That's a long ride.

  5. Not across country, but last year me and the missus took one through Central Park in NYC, that was a fun ride.

  6. I think it would be slow and the horse would need to change his shoes once in a while.

  7. Riding in that buggy even for 2 yards would be a thrill. I would not want to hurt the little guy.
Beautiful post in these days of so much hurt and chaos. Thanks

  8. When I was a child I rode to church with friends that had mules and a wagon and walking would have been a better way to go. Yes I'm old,(smile) but this horse and buggy looks like it would be fun.

  9. I always think of the pioneers trudging through the mountains, desert, and facing so many challenges while flying to the west coast in one day. Not sure I would be able to do it on foot. Horse and buggy is an everyday accurance here in Amish country. Just have to watch out for the droppings on these warm days!
