Dog therapy

The rain moved off to the east before dawn. I had early appointments, so my internal clock went off early. The light seeping in from around the blinds foretold the nature of the sky today.

When I headed for the truck to head out, the winds out of the north sent me back inside to search for gloves.

The interviews I did were not easy ones, but they were important. They both concerned children and the problems they face here. Some of the things I heard broke my heart.

When I got home, I put on my walking clothes and shoes and took the dogs out for a stroll. There's something about yapping dogs that is therapeutic.

  1. Empathy is a double edged sword isn't it? We/the world is better for it, but it sometimes bites hard.
I am glad you had therapeutic four legged companions to walk with, and love that photo.

  2. Yes, I am sure if you have enough interviews some will break your heart. But somehow making the world aware in the right way just might help.
Dogs have a way of helping too!

  3. Dogs are very good therapy. They do makes happier. I've heard of hospitals that let them in the patients rooms to pet. It supposedly lowers blood pressure. You have a lot to be thankful for there.

  4. I despair of children who are having a tough time especially at this time of year. I came from a very poor family but we always had a roof over our heads and food to eat. There are too many who don't have that.

  6. Dogs are good therapy. I always joke that Arnold would be great to take to work and help with stress! Plus the housekeeper wouldn't have to clean our breakroom floor with Arnold on patrol! One of our patient's family members brought in a dog with them. We don't think it was a registered therapy or emotional support animal but laws make it so we can't ask about it. I didn't care, I enjoyed the barking from the waiting room! I think your new family memeber, Kodak, is adorable! Congrats..he's a lucky pup to find you!

Birgit here, I am glad you could get out with the dogs after listening to the stories of people and what they go through. It can be so sad but it shows how much we have.

  8. I'm glad that Jordan has such a loving family, including you two and now Kodak. I would probably spend the rest of my life in bed without Franklin and Penelope.

    Love,
    Janie
