2011 The Year In Pictures

I tried to post this last night, but I had a few glitches. One of the main things was that I used a copyrighted song initially. When I went to post it, I realized I didn't have permission to use the song, so recorded my on version of Auld Lang Syne, which is a traditional.

What a lovely, haunting, echoey sound. I don't know why but that song always makes me feel so sad.

  3. Wow! That's great. Did you actually play the song, too? Anyway, the whole video is great.

Wow! That's a great tribute to 2011. I think it's amazing to look back on the events that happen throughout the year.

  5. It was fun seeing all the pictures. The ones of you fishing are so nice and I love your house. So much can happen in one year!

  6. @Delores, it is a haunting piece of music, but it's one of the most recognizable melodies I've ever heard.
The pictures brought tears to Jilda's eyes the first time she watched it because the dog near the first was our old dog Charlie that died last summer.
@Shelly, it is a haunting piece of music. It always makes me nostalgic too.
@ Lisa, yes I played it on our keyboard. It's an old traditional song played mostly on New Years Eve.
@Renay, New Years is one of my favorite holidays because it's a time to take stock of yourself. Shed old habits and start new ones that help move you in the direction of your dreams.
@Belle, we love our little house in the country. It's only about 1200 square feet (plus the laundry room, the screened porch, and the decks), but it's just right for us.
One of the best parts about it is that it's paid for :)

  7. Dang, that song makes me cry and when it's paired with pics, well just put a fork in me, I'm done! Beautiful way to put 2011 to bed. Everyone has a story and you just told yours perfectly!

  9. Rick - Hope 2012 is all you want it to be. I think you will continue to be glad you decided to "stay retired" instead of going into public office.

    Happy New Year - Marsha

  11. Is that you mum? Awww how lovely to see her! Yay!! And who was that very grande dame at 2.48 with Jilda?

Awww I recognise adorable Jordan and your office building adventures with this amazing carpenter fella!

    HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Now were you playing the violin, a flute? I'm so non-musically talented and quite ignorant about such things but it was bugging me what instrument you were using! LOL!

    Take care

  12. @Kitty, that was Jilda with her sister and cousins along with her Aunt Florence.
Earlier in the video she's sitting with the Beehive Queen Christine Ohlman.
That is me playing but I played the song on our keyboard. I have recording software on my computer that will emulate almost any sound. This was set on solo violin.
    Have a great 2012.
    Cheers!
