A face in the cloud

The weathermen were antsy last night. They pointed to big masses of cold and warm air that I could not see. I'm not certain they seem them either, but the computers did and it made the silicon inside them twist and shout.

The Governor declared a state of emergency for today. This was enough to close schools in advance of the weather threat.

As it turns out, we barely got a shower here but up in the heavens, you could hear the angry wind gods roar. Friends to the south and east weren't so lucky. I'm hoping no one lost their life.

This evening, the dogs were careening off the walls. They wanted to walk and made sure everyone knew it. When Jilda opened the gate, all three dogs darted in different directions.

After a few laps, we headed inside so that she could finish the chicken and rice we were having for supper. I sat out on the deck and watched the clouds. The wind out of the southwest felt good on my face. I snapped a few pictures but they were unimpressive.

When I sat down to write my blog, I took another look to see if there was a picture that might work. That's when I saw it. It was a face in the clouds. A man with a beard looking off to the east.

It's interesting what you can see in the clouds. When I was a kid, we made a game out of cloud images.

Below is the picture I first saw. The smaller picture is the face cropped from the larger picture.

  1. Very cool photo! Right now the rain is pounding the windows and thunder has Chubbs staying close by. Hopefully you didn't get hit too hard. My niece teaches at Auburn U and I believe she said they cancelled classes today. We're looking at snow for Friday and 70 on Sunday. It could give you whiplash living around these parts!

  2. I was feeling the change in my joints and had a wicked headache but nothing here either. I actually see a skull which is ...not comforting.

  3. It is so entertaining to see the images in the clouds. I saw a much more mean face and it was larger and looking right at me.

  4. WE thought about you guys today. The warning appeared on our PC's. Oh the picture. My favorite past time, I like you r man but I like the dog or bad wolf at about 11 o'clock!

  5. I still look for shapes in the clouds. And yes, I hope that the weather was kinder than predicted. I think we are up to 5 dead in our recent cyclone, and many millions of dollars worth of damage.

  6. What an amazing photo. I can plainly see the man on the right and he looks somehow like a man of the sea, but when I look at the whole photo I can also see an evil eyed wild wolf with flaring nostrils or wild boar.
It was one of my favorite pastime when I was kid to lay on a blanket on the ground and watch clouds formations.
I'm glad you were spared from the storm.
    Hugs, Julia

  7. Great picture ! I love watching the clouds. The chicken and rice sounds pretty good too!

  8. I don't see the face, but that's one interesting cloud formation.

  9. I was just ready to wave a white flag, when "aha!" 'Just not sure if that's a grin or a sneer ....

  10. I saw the face right away, very nice picture.

  11. That guy in the clouds visited my neighborhood early this morning. I received your share of the storm. It was terrible!
