Happy Father's Day

I've spent more time than usual on Facebook today. Almost everyone of the friends I follow, put up pictures and messages to their fathers.
They all made me smile, but the most poignant messages I've seen today were those from people like me who've lost their fathers.
My dad went to work early in his life which left no time for school. He learned his lessons the hard way. He worked hard and provided for his family. None of us ever knew what it was like to go hungry.
He taught us that we could have most anything if we were willing to work. He was the needle on my compass that always pointed in the right direction.
My dad wasn't without faults, but he had a good heart and he loved his family.
Rarely does a day go by that I don't think of him.
If your father is still living, don't go to sleep tonight without telling him how much he means to you.
Happy Father's Day

  3. A great tribute to you dad. I lost mine in 2008 and nine months later I lost my mom.
Times were hard when he was raising his large family and just putting food on the table was all time consuming. Surviving was all time consuming. It was a different time then.

Between the both of them they raised 17 good kids and I'm one of them. I've lost count of how many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

    Peace,
    JB

  5. Father's Day is not a holiday for me. I miss my dad too much. He was my protector.

  6. A wonderful, sweet message. I miss my Dad everyday. Jack's Dad passed away in 2001 and we miss him also...he was Jack's partner as well as his Dad and I know it was terribly hard to go back to work and see his desk and all his things at the office. He's name is still on the sign outside. I would give anything to wish them both a happy Father's Day.

  7. You are a wonderful son to think about your Daddy.
He is smiling down at you from the heavens.
As for faults ... well which one of us has none.
Life brings out both the best and the worst in all of us.
Nothing even to talk about. lol

  8. He looks like a kind soul Rick. And knowing the kind soul you are, I have no doubt that he passed some of that on to you. Have a great day my friend.
