Happy New Year

We had friends over tonight for dinner. Since we're from the south, we had to have greens, black-eyed peas, and cornbread. One of our guests was born and raised in Florida and told us he didn't like collards or black-eyed peas. I told him I was reporting him to the committee on UnAmerican activities and that he would most likely be placed on the terrorist watch list. He'll have problems flying out of Birmingham from now on :)
After we ate, we sat around and played music for a while. I can't think of a better way to get the new year started.
Happy New Year!

  2. I'm from Florida too. And my Alabama grandmother tried to get me to eat any kind of greens -- just can't do it. Now I did eat some Hopping John, Grilled Pork Chops and Cornbread with my uncooked greens (salad) yesterday and they were yummy. Happy new year!

  3. Sounds like a perfect evening to me! Um, I'm probably on that list, too...my husband doesn't like any of those things. Ah well....

  4. I'm from Canada - and I don't have a clue what collard greens are! I've read about them in books but have never seen them, never mind tried them :)

  5. we had the peas and cornbread, but I'm with your friend about the collard greens. I can take them disguised in soup, but that's about the most I can get down. Glad you had a fun time ringing in the new year!
