Evening stroll

I did yoga on the back deck early this morning. I try to alternate yoga and walking. The days have been warm and most days I need a shower after an evening walk.

The yoga felt good. Holding the poses for eight or 10 slow breaths gives my muscles a chance to relax into the pose. I did a plank, which is a the starting position of a pushup. You're back is straight and the weight of your body rests on extended arms. When you're in motion, the pose is not that difficult, but when you stay in that position of 10 SLOOOOOOOWWWWW breath, it feels like an eternity. My forearms quaked after seven breaths but I held it.

This evening, I finished up work and headed home. The sky was overcast so I decided to walk. Down behind the barn I came upon a small dogwood and one of the leaves had already turned. July just began and already it's ready for autumn.

By the time my timer sounded, I looked as if I had showered with my clothes on. Even in the heat, it felt good to get a little more exercise.

  2. I admire you in the regular use of Yoga. I do only the plank now. I must get back to at least three positions and grow. It is absolutely one of the best forms of exercise for the body. Sherry and I used to go thru the routines regularly, but it is hard for her unless she is in a class. I see folks doing their Yoga in an RV park, but we are too self conscience to do it outside.
    Good on you my friend.

  4. Anyone who thinks yoga is easy has not tried it.

  5. I've never tried yoga but many recommend it. My only exercise these days seems to be weeding the flower beds. With so much rain here they are growing non stop.

  6. You are to be commented for doing Yoga. I used to do Yoga years ago when the kids were small and I did enjoy it but had difficulty doing the Lotus since my knee injury. Now the only yoga I do is on my knees in the garden. hehe...

I feel bad that your garden is suffering from too much heat and not enough moisture. Here it rains too often.

  7. Yoga is not good for me due to my hypermobility in my joints but glad you could hold it for a full 10. It sounds just so hot which I can't stand. Your picture is so pretty even if the leaf is waiting for Autumn to come
