Shed talk

The sky was cloudless most of the day. We didn't have a lot on our calendars so after our morning walk, I headed to the shed.

It had gotten to the point to where when I took something down there to store, I would open the door cautiously, toss the item in and then close the door before an avalanche of tools, toys, and junk squashed me like a bug.

The temps were pushing 100 but the shed is in the shade. I would work 30 minutes before heading back inside to cool and hydrate.

By this afternoon, I started seeing real progress. Finishing will take a few more hours, but I'm on a roll.

I came across one old treasure I'd forgotten about. It's an RC cola bottle. I think it was an earlier one because I remember the later ones being different.

We'll hang on to this one.

  1. Odd that, I just found a Cheerwine bottle here on our property, I cleaned it up by putting some small nuts and bolts inside with D/W deter and shaking it around. Son Mark looke it up on the phone and there is one on e=bay for $45. I guess folks collect every thing.
BUT that bottle brings back memories (Not of Moon Pies, but) of an RC Cola with salted p-nuts poured into the neck. I loved that. Yep hold it. (gives me an idea of a blog entry. thanks.

  2. It is an old one. Just remember that even though the shed is in the shade it still heats more than outside.

  4. That's what sheds are for - to pack with things that might be useful one day. And also to fill in time on a slow day sorting through the stuff to see exactly what you have kept...

  5. That reminds me that I have to clean our shed. Everything is just tossed in there too...It's not a pretty picture in there and it's going to be a monumental job. My husband keeps everything, then he can't find what he's looking for and he goes and buy what ever he needs. It drives me crazy. I personally, don't care for old stuff that I don't use. It makes life so much easier. One man's treasure is another man or woman's trash I guess.

I hope the weather cools off for you soon.

  6. I dug up an old Cheerwine bottle a few years ago while planting some flowers. It was in perfect condition until the sun hit the label and faded it to white.

  7. Cool old bottle
Working in the heat can take it's toll, so stay safe

  8. Ahh memories. I love the black and white photo which brings to mind simpler and, dare I say, happier times before kids were getting spurs on their necks from too much cell phone use
