Leaves

What are we, but tiny leaves?

Green for a while -- we've had our day in the sun

But summer never seems long enough

Then autumn brings change

The world seems different, more finite and fragile

The smells, sounds, scents, and subtle color singe like a brand on our collective memory

Winter will be upon us before we know it

  2. Leaves of grass--now I'll think of Whitman for hours. (That's a good thing.)

  4. Each day is a gift and with it comes the inevitable change to transform and renew what has been going on for millenniums. Enjoy the beautiful transformation that Autumn is bringing now. A stunning photo.

  5. Dear Rick, yes, there's a chill in the morning air as I walk and I think of the poet's line from the 19th century: "The frost is on the pumpkin." Peace.
