Eyes to the skies

The local weather people have been jabbering all day and point to computer models of what might happen tomorrow.

A system moving through could affect almost everyone in the central U.S. One weatherman said we could have 70 mph straight-line winds with baseball-sized hail. I'm not excited.

This afternoon, I gassed up the vehicles, bought gas for the chainsaw, and made sure we had batteries. With wind velocity that high, there's a good chance there will be power outages tomorrow.

Hopefully, it will remain aloft and not do any damage.

For our friends west, south, and north of Central Alabama, keep your eyes on the skies tomorrow.

This is an old picture. I did it in black and white to make the clouds look more menacing.

  1. It sure looks like it could get nasty, so you guys will be in my prayers that it won't be too bad down there! I think we'll get bypassed a bit. We've had a lot of rain and mild temps. It could be another soggy day tomorrow. I hate when the winds get nasty. I always worry about the pine trees since they don't have deep roots. I worry they will come down on my neighbor's fence or hurt their alpacas. Fingers crossed up here that this will not be as bad as predicted.

  2. Our weather folks keep saying, "We're not trying to scare you", but I'm already there.

  3. Batten down the hatches!

  4. Good luck with your weather. It doesn't look promising.

  5. I hope it doesn't get as bad as they're predicting, but it's best to be prepared.I'm down here in Opp, Alabama. I hired my grandchildren to clean pinecones and limbs out of my yard this week and looks like they will be covered again after tomorrow. It doesn't take a hard wind to break them out of these old pine trees.

  6. Sure am hoping the weather people are wrong this time about how bad the storms will be. Hope you're able to keep us posted on how you're doing.

  7. I do like that mean sky shot, so REAL. At times I think we have too many weather guessers, like we do lawyers. EAch wanting to stress the 'worst possible scenario.' But I also realize it takes that to make people aware of WHAT CAN HAPPEN!
Hope you do not see high winds. Okay, I mean: see the effects of High winds. LOL
    Take care
    Sherry & jack

  8. We have wicked winds going on here today. I could hardly get my car door open when I was by the bay. We had snow last night and more coming tonight. Everyone is worried because it is a big Packer day at Lambeau tomorrow with a late game. sigh...welcome to Winter in the Frozen Tundra. Hugs- Diana
ps. Hope you and Jilda don't lose power!!!

  9. That is a dark stormy looking photo

  10. I read your next post first so these clouds are ominous. We had all day rain and now snow is on the ground...wacky weather
